Tooter's Tales

Full-time mom, full-time wife, full-time working professional. Yeah, I'm tired. But extremely blessed and fulfilled.

Recent Developments

A006

Tooter has been growing leaps and bounds developmentally in the past month. Some things he's been doing:

  • pulling up on EVERYTHING. He loves to pull up and cries when you lay him down to change his diaper or clothes. Sometimes it's just easier to put his clothes on while he's standing up.
  • saying "Dada," "Nah-nah" (Mama), and "dye-dye" (bye-bye) while waving.
  • crawing everywhere. It's no longer an ugly crawl, it's a full-blown crawl even though he looks like one of those low-bellied lizards getting around. It's slow, sort of like stop-animation.
  • turning out the light in his room every time we leave. I carry him out and hold him by the light switch and he turns it off. That's our little game. He won't do it for my mom. :P
He's been sick for the past week and ever since then, his sleep has been messed up. He wakes in the night crying and is inconsolable. I'm not sure what to do about it. I've tried rocking, feeding, changing diaper, walking the hall, sitting on the couch, tylenol, teething tablets, and putting him back down in the bed and patting him, which seems to exacerbate the crying. Nothing seems to work; the only thing that I've had success with is getting Daddy up to hold him and he eventually calms down and falls asleep after much squirming and fussing. (But Daddy's having to use a walker and can't carry him around--he can only sit in one place and has to call my cell phone to get me to put him back to bed because I go back to sleep in the bedroom and if he hollers at me, he'll wake the boy up and I can't hear it anyway.) He's sleepy but fights sleep and when I hold him, he rolls all over my lap and can't seem to get comfortable. I'm not sure what's going on but I am SOOOOO tired. Not to mention, during the day, he wants to play and play and play but won't play by himself. He wants one of us down in the floor with him or he gets mad.

So, I hope this is just a phase. I'm not sure what's going on but I hope he gets happier soon. I hate seeing him so upset and it makes me tired!

Tooter's First Snow!

We got around 5-6 inches of snow (no ice for a change) and Tooter was SO excited when we all went outside to stand in it as it fell around us. I love his facial expressions in these photos.

8 Months

167894_173224996047923_1000008

Little Tooter is 8 months old today. He has recently met lots of milestones and made great progress in his development. In the past month, he

  • learned to sit up on his own. He had previously started "tripoding" but wasn't able to stay seated for long without falling over. However, he's now sitting for longer spells. He still can't sit up from lying down, but his back is definitely getting stronger.
  • started crawling January 1. It ain't pretty and it's mostly crawling backward, but he can get to where he needs to go. He'll have it down in no time, I'm sure.
  • began saying "neh-neh" which I think means "Mama" because he only says it around me. He also now knows what "Dada" means even though he's been saying it for awhile.
  • started getting too rambunctious in his crib and we had to lower it.
  • got his first booboo last night when he fell in his crib (he can prop himself up on the rails) and busted his lip. No blood but lots of tears.
His great-grandma is very sick and might not be with us much longer. My aunt took this precious photo of him patting her hand last Saturday. I will treasure this memory always.
